World Economic Forum

DAVOS, SWITZERLAND -- Dalia Mogahed was invited to present Gallup's key findings to the Community of West and Islam Dialogue (C-100) at the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland January 23-27, 2008. C-100 members then discussed implementation of action plans based on the results, and held working sessions geared to putting those plans into operation. Two main areas of concentration were the conditions under which religion promotes or alleviates conflict, and the role of the media in the Muslim-West dialogue.

A number of important relationships were established at this event. Jim Berk, CEO of Participant Productions, expressed interest in incorporating Gallup's findings in a movie about Muslim-West relations. And filmmaker Jehane Noujaim, director of the acclaimed 2004 movie Control Room, sought to explore the possibility of making a documentary based on Mogahed and John Esposito's recent book Who Speaks for Islam?
